DES MOINES, IOWA – Former Samford standout Cameron Bean represented his alma mater well this weekend at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase finals on Sunday.  Running for ZAP Fitness, Bean finished 14th in 9:01.90.
 
Bean, a 2010 graduate of Samford, has been with ZAP Fitness as a standout distance runner since his graduation.  His senior season at Samford was one of the best in school history.  During the Indoor SoCon Championships, Bean was named the Men's Most Outstanding Athlete after earning titles in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters.  During the Outdoor Championships, Bean won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished as the runner-up in the 5,000 meters.
 
Bean still holds multiple school records at Samford, all of which were set during the 2010 season.  He owns the top times in the indoor 3,000 meters (8:15.74), 5,000 meters (14:28.87) and outdoor 5,000 meters (14:29.33).
