BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Samford senior running back and kick returner
Fabian Truss and senior defensive lineman
Jeremy Towns have both earned minicamp tryouts with the New York Jets.
Truss and Towns will both report to New York on Thursday to begin workouts.
As a senior in 2013, Truss led the SoCon and ranked third in the nation in all-purpose yards per game at 183.8 yards per contest. He ranked second nationally in kickoff return average at 32.1 yards per return. Despite missing the final two games of the season with an injury, Truss rushed for 877 yards and eight touchdowns.
For his career, Truss will leave Samford as the program's all-time leader in all-purpose yards with 6,640 total yards. He also ranks third in school history in rushing yards with 3,088 rushing yards in his Samford career.
Towns had his best season as a senior. He started all 13 games, finishing with 54 tackles, including 36 solo stops. Towns had 6.0 tackles for a loss, including 2.5 sacks. He also had one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry in 2013.
Despite battling injuries throughout his career, Towns finished with 105 tackles, 62 solo. He also had 6.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in his Samford career.

Kelsey Pope agreed to a free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals Saturday evening.
