BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford women's basketball program has hired former Birmingham-Southern head coach Rena Faust-Holden as an assistant coach, Bulldog head coach Mike Morris announced Thursday.

"We are very excited to have Rena join our staff and basketball family," Morris said. "Rena brings a great deal of collegiate coaching experience, especially in the area of recruiting. With her genuine personality and her ability to connect to today's student-athlete, Rena will have a positive influence on our current and future players."

In her position at Samford, Faust-Holden will be involved in all areas of the program, including recruiting and on-court coaching. Her hiring completes Morris' coaching staff for the 2015-16 season.

Faust-Holden spent the last 10 seasons on the coaching staff at Birmingham-Southern, serving the last two seasons as the program's head coach. Prior to coming to Birmingham-Southern, Faust-Holden served as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas from 2003 to 2005. While with the Razorbacks, she worked with compliance, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), community service, recruiting, scouting opponents, player development in practices, academics, travel, camps, budgeting and scheduling.

From 1996 to 2003, she served on the staff at West Georgia. She was an assistant coach the entire time at UWG, and she also served as the school's senior women's administrator in 2002 and 2003.

Faust-Holden started her coaching career as a student assistant at her alma mater, Southeastern Louisiana in 1995 and 1996.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in health promotion and fitness, and physical education from Southeastern Louisiana in 1996. She then earned a Master's Degree in education leadership from American Intercontinental University in 2009.
