FINAL RESULTS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Samford men's golf team finished third in the Samford Intercollegiate, held Monday and Tuesday at Greystone Golf and Country Club (Par 72, 7,206 yards).

"The 2016 Samford Intercollegiate had great weather and was a big success," Samford head coach Al DelGreco said. "We had our best finish of the season, led by two freshmen, Alec Stopperich and Harlan Winn. Ten of our 12 players played in the event, and all played well."

The Bulldogs placed third in the eight-team event, finishing with a three-round score of 899 (297-298-304). UT Martin won the event with a final score of 889 (292-297-300), while Montevallo came in second at 894 (299-297-298).

Samford also entered a "B" team in the event. That team placed sixth with a three-round score of 915 (303-306-306).

"Our goal continues to be to have more consistency and clean up our mistakes," DelGreco said. "I'm looking for good results when our spring season starts in February."

The Samford "A" team was led by Alec Stopperich, who tied for third out of 44 total players. Stopperich finished with a three-round score of 220 (70-70-80). Harlan Winn tied for eighth with a score of 224 (75-75-74).

Crawford Flach tied for 22^nd, firing a tournament total score of 231 (80-73-78). Jackson Seawell finished 24^th at 232 (77-81-74), while Aaron Walker tied for 25^th with a score of 233 (75-80-78).

For Samford's "B" team, Garrett Moores finished 13^th with a final score of 227 (75-77-75). Robert Adams tied for 17^th at 229 (75-77-77), while Austin Jackson tied for 19^th at 230 (77-78-75). Austin Rains tied for 25^th with a score of 233 (76-74-83), while Ashton Nix came in 35^th at 240 (82-79-79).

Hunter Richardson of UT Martin took individual medalist honors, with a three-round score of 215 (72-70-73). Markus Krieger of New Orleans came in second at 218 (71-70-77).

The tournament wraps up the fall portion of Samford's schedule. The Bulldogs will return to action Feb. 17-19, when Samford competes in the Rice All-American in Houston, Texas.
