
W-Golf Finishes Strong At Edwin Watts Classic

FINAL RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C.—The Samford women's golf team had its best performance of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic in Tuesday's final round, shooting a 294, to finish the three-round event in 23rd out of 41 teams.

"We talked earlier this week about digging deep and having more fight, fighting for yourself, your team and your school," Samford head coach Rachel Ingram said. "The girls dug deep today and scored the fourth best final round today. I am very proud of them for overcoming a challenging first round, refocusing and finding determination within. We will carry this momentum to North Florida's tournament next week."

The Bulldogs fired a three-round score of 924 (320-310-294) in the event. Coastal Carolina won the tournament with a total score of 871 (291-298-282). Chattanooga finished second with a score of 879 (283-313-283), and the host, College of Charleston, came in third at 884 (290-299-295).

Individually for Samford, freshman Emily Uhland tied for 34th out of 212 golfers with a three-round score of 226 (79-75-72), after shooting an even-par round on Tuesday. Freshman Anna Buchanan finished in a tie for 74th, firing a tournament total score of 230 (79-76-75).

Junior Haley Harrington shot a 234 (78-82-74) to finish in a tie for 101st. Sophomore Kate Collom tied for 141st, with a final score of 240 (84-83-73), while redshirt freshman Madeline Davis shot a 243 (85-87-81), tying her for 159th.

Troy's Fatima Cano and Chattanooga's Emily McLennan tied for individual medalist honors, both shooting a three-round score of 210. Elon's Heather Munro came in third with a score of 213.

Samford will return to action on March 7 and 8, when the Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to take part in the UNF Collegiate.
