PINEHURST, N.C.—The Samford women's golf team bounced back from a slow start to finish in a tie for seventh in a tough field of 19 teams at the 2017 Pinehurst Challenge, played Monday and Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 1 (Par 72, 5,974 yards).

The Bulldogs ended Monday's morning round in a tie for 16^th after shooting a 298, but the team came back in the afternoon round to fire a 282 to jump to seventh. Samford posted a score of 292 in Tuesday's round to finish with a total score of 872, tying the Bulldogs for seventh place.

East Carolina won the event with a score of 847 (289-277-281). Coastal Carolina placed second at 855 (285-282-288), while Old Dominion came in third with a score of 859 (290-283-286).

Individually, Samford was led by sophomore Hallianne Hobson, tying for 12^th with a three-round score of 214 (74-70-70). For full results, click here: FULL RESULTS.

Samford will return to action on Oct. 16-17, when the Bulldogs travel to Hayesville, N.C., to take part in the Western Carolina Invitational.
