BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- It only took 16 seconds for the Samford soccer team to answer the first goal it allowed in six matches and over 632 minutes of playing time Friday, as the Bulldogs' Caroline Orman notched the first goal of her collegiate career in the 73^rd minute of action en route to a momentous 3-1 home victory against the Chattanooga Mocs.

Friday's win occurred in a key Southern Conference showdown held at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.

At exactly 72:14 into the match, Chattanooga's Chloe Arnold found the back of the net against the Bulldogs, a feat that hadn't occurred since Sept. 8, in Samford's 1-1 draw with Georgia. Arnold's score, her team-leading fourth of the season, trimmed the Bulldogs' advantage to 2-1 midway through the second half.

It didn't take Samford (7-5-1, 3-0 SoCon) long to answer.

Just 16 seconds later, the Bulldogs' Caroline Orman, a true freshman, punched home a quick score from the left side of the box to extend Samford to its decisive 3-1 advantage. The goal proved to be Orman's first of the season.

Caroline's older sister, Kaitlyn, tallied the first score of the match in the 16^th minute to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 advantage.

Samford's second goal was added by Korrie Sauder, her third of the season, in the 53^rd minute of play.

With their victory, the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to six straight matches and upped their undefeated stretch to seven consecutive outings.

Samford outshot Chattanooga (3-7-2, 1-2 SoCon), 17-5, including a 7-2 tally in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also won the corner kick battle, 8-1.

The Samford University soccer team will next be in action Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs continue their three-match conference homestand against the UNCG Spartans in a pivotal league tilt to be held at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
