Founded in 1841, Samford University is the largest independently supported university in the state of Alabama. Our serene suburban campus, with its rolling hills and stately Georgian Colonial architecture, provides the ideal college environment. But Samford is only minutes away from Birmingham, a diverse metropolitan area of 1 million people--a city rich in culture, history and spirit. Most importantly, Samford offers an outstanding education in 26 degree programs and over 80 majors in eight schools.

Set in the community of Homewood, Alabama, the university is in one of the nicest areas in this part of the country with the hills truly setting the area apart from any other area in the state.
The student population is over 5700 students which includes both undergraduate and graduate students from more than 40 states. The university is also the home of the Cumberland School of Law (one of only two in the state) as well as the McWhorter School of Pharmacy (one of only two accredited Pharmacy schools in the state). The Schools of Education and Business have been regularly acclaimed and nationally ranked schools by magazines like U.S. News and World Report.
