BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team (5-16; 3-8 OVC) fell to Eastern Kentucky, 3-0 in a conference match on Friday night (Oct. 29) at Seibert Hall. The scores were as follows: 30-23, 30-19, 30-23. Samford's leaders for the match were Callaway Logan, Eileen Hatfield and Allison Pickett.
EKU took the first match, 30-23. The Colonels recorded 23 kills, six errors and 45 total attacks with a game-high attack percentage of .378. The Bulldogs recorded 11 kills, two errors and 34 total attacks with a game-high attack percentage of .265. Logan was the Bulldog leader for game one with five kills and attack percentage of .556.
The Colonels captured the second game, 30-19. The Bulldogs recorded ten kills, nine errors and 32 total attacks with a game-low attack percentage of .031, while Eastern Kentucky recorded 16 kills, five errors and 32 total attacks with an attack percentage of .344. Angela Dempski added three kills for this game with an attack percentage of .200.
Eastern Kentucky finished with the match win and a final game score of 30-23. For game three, the Colonels recorded 14 kills, five errors and 44 total attacks with an attack percentage of .205, while Samford recorded a game-high of 14 kills, nine errors and 44 total attacks with an attack percentage of .114.
The Bulldogs recorded a total of 35 kills, 20 errors and 110 total attacks with an attack percentage of .136, while EKU posted 53 kills, 16 errors and 121 total attacks with an attack percentage of .306.
To complete the match, Bulldog's Logan recorded 10 kills, three errors and 25 total attacks with an attack percentage of .280, while on the defense Hatfield recorded 21 digs. In assists, Pickett finished with 18, while Abby Sites posted 14.
The Bulldog will continue with Homecoming Weekend, as the Bulldogs play host to Morehead State on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Seibert Hall. Match time is set for noon.
