Women's Tennis Takes Care of Savannah State 7-0

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford women's tennis defeated Savannah State 7-0, Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs, who had not played in almost two weeks, improve to 3-1 on the young season. Freshman Bethany Benson did not lose any games in her No. 5 singles match.
"We played well today after not being able to get some matches in the past week due to the weather," Head coach Terri Sisk said. "This gives us some momentum heading into a tough match against Southern Mississippi."
Katie Crawford and Emily Nunnally won No. 1 doubles 8-3 and Sarah McKey and Emily White didn't yield a point in a 8-0 victory at No.2 doubles. Nunnally won No.1 singles 6-2, 6-4, while Crawford took care of No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory. White and Jen Pharr only lost one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Benson won No.5 singles 6-0, 6-0.
The Bulldogs travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. for two matches Sunday afternoon. Samford will take on Northwestern State at 9:00 a.m. and then play Southern Mississippi at 2:00 p.m.
