The Samford University men's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped Friday as the Bulldogs suffered a 6-1 non-conference defeat against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at the Samford Tennis Center.
In the loss, Samford (5-10) picked up its lone point of the day in singles play as true freshman Carson Kadi defeated Piotr Olechowski, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, on court No. 2. Kadi, the Bulldogs' highly touted speedster from New Orleans, La., earned his fourth-straight singles win with the victory.
Prior to Friday's defeat, Samford rattled off consecutive non-conference triumphs against Murray State 6-1, Gadsden State 7-0 and Georgia Southern 4-3.
Louisiana-Lafayette (7-4) swept all three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The Ragin' Cajuns then earned wins on every singles court except for the No. 2 matchup. With its non-conference victory, Louisiana-Lafayette extended its winning streak to four-consecutive matches.
Samford played Friday without the efforts of senior Richard Walsh.
The Samford men's tennis team will next be in action Saturday at 10 a.m., as the Bulldogs jump back into Southern Conference play with a home matchup against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. The contest will be Samford's ninth-consecutive match held at home at the Samford Tennis Center.
