Men's Tennis Wins Sixth Straight Match At Murray State, 5-2

MURRAY, Ky. - The Samford University men's tennis team extended its winning streak to six-consecutive matches Sunday as the Bulldogs cruised to a 5-2 road victory against the Murray State Racers at the Kenlake Tennis Center.
In the win, Samford (6-1) earned the doubles point and then received singles victories from Scott Foster, Oliver Reynolds, Carson Kadi and Carl Abalos. Reynolds and Abalos both extended their winning streaks in singles play to five matches. Reynolds earned a three-set victory on court No. 2, while Abalos tallied a straight-set triumph in the No. 4 singles contest.
Murray State (1-3) suffered its second straight loss at the hands of a Southern Conference opponent Sunday. In their most recent match, the Racers dropped a 6-1 decision to Chattanooga on Feb. 20 in Paducah, Ky.
Samford jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead Sunday by taking the doubles point. The Bulldogs claimed the first score of the match by earning doubles wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. In the No. 1 doubles match, Samford's combination of Reynolds and Abalos tallied an 8-5 victory, while the Bulldogs' tandem of Zac Dunkle and Kadi registered an 8-3 triumph on court No. 2.
Kadi, Samford's sophomore from New Orleans, La., was also victorious in singles play as he breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win on court No. 3. The Bulldogs' remaining singles victory occurred on court No. 1 as Foster knocked off the Racers' Ben Clos 6-4, 6-2. With Sunday's win, Foster remained undefeated in No. 1 singles matches this season and improved his record 2-0 at the position.
The Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Monday at 2 p.m. (CST) as the Bulldogs begin SoCon play at home against the College of Charleston Cougars at the Samford Tennis Center.
