BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Over the next few weeks we will be profiling each of Samford baseball's nine signees for the 2012 early signing period. Today's profile is of Jared Brasher.

Jared Brasher (RHP, 6-3, 200, Pell City High School, Pell City, Ala.) is a hard-throwing right handed pitcher that currently ranks among the top rated players in the state of Alabama as well as the nation, rising as high as the seventh-ranked right handed pitcher in the country while featuring a fastball that tops out in the mid 90-mile per hour range at Pell City High School.

Samford head coach Casey Dunn says he and his staff are expecting big and immediate things from Brasher.

“Jared is a very highly touted right-handed pitcher from Pell City," Dunn said. "He had the opportunity to pitch in several major events this summer and performed extremely well. We will be counting on Jared to come in and make an impact on our program from day one. Jared is a very good student who will be a great asset to our university.”
 
Brasher participated in several high profile all star type events this summer, including the Under Armour All-American Game at Wrigley Field on the Major League Baseball network  that featured only 38 players from around the country and performed at a very high level that raised the awareness of his ability all over the country. He was also  selected for the Under Armour All-America Team, East Coast Pro Showcase in New York for the top 200 players in the country and the Perfect Game All-American Game in San Diego.
