SAMFORD PLAYS DOUBLE HEADER AT MURRAY STATE
Samford softball will make a midweek trip to Murray, Ky., for a Wednesday double header against Murray State. Game time is set for 3 p.m. CT.

OPPONENT SCOUTING REPORT
Murray State (22-16, 14-10 OVC) - The Racers are currently 22-16, having won seven of their past 10 games. They are 8-6 in non-conference games having earned wins against Campbellsville, Belmont, Ole Miss, Indiana State, Morehead State and three against Middle Tennessee State. Their leading hitter is Megan Glosser, batting .364 with only five strikeouts in 121 at bats. Casey Castile (.319) is their power leader, hitting six home runs and 31 RBI with a .940 OPS. All three of their pitchers have ERAs under 3.00, with Shelby Kosmecki (9-9) leading the team at 2.33, scattering 111 hits over 111.0 innings with 37 earned runs and 91 strikeouts.

SAMFORD ALL TIME AGAINST MURRAY STATE
Samford has an all-time record of 1-1 against the Racers, as the Murray State softball program is in only its third year of existence. The teams split a double header during the 2010 season, with Samford winning game one, 5-0, but falling to the Racers, 11-3, in a six-inning game two. This will be the first time Samford softball has traveled to Murray, Ky.

BIG INNINGS
Out of every inning, Samford has found the most success in the third and fifth innings this season. The Bulldogs are hitting a cool .316 (59-187) in the third inning, including 24 RBI and nine doubles with a .377 OBP. Their best run production comes in the fifth inning, where they are hitting .284 with 35 runs scored (33 RBI). Seven of the team's 19 home runs have come in the fifth inning, helping them to a .421 slugging percentage in the inning. These two innings have accounted for 41 percent of the team's runs and 42 percent of their RBI and home runs.

IN A PINCH
This season, the Bulldogs have been able to rely on their bench to come into games in key situations. All six Bulldogs who have come in for pinch-running duty this season have scored at least one run doing so. Madeline Baker has seen the most pinch-running duty, with five runs in 12 chances (42 percent). Tessa Frates and Julianne Surane have each scored three runs in seven chances. Three of Arica Dykes' seven stolen bases this season have come as a pinch runner, where she is 3-4.

Samford hosts its final home games of the 2012 season, facing Appalachian State for a three-game series. Action begins with a double header on Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m. Saturday will also be senior day, as the Bulldogs will honor seniors Robyn Harmon and Tessa Frates. The series concludes with a third game on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m.
