
Samford Wraps up Competition in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. – Samford wrapped up competition at the Raleigh Relays Saturday afternoon, highlighted by a new PR by Marie Demedicis in the 800 meters.
Demedicis placed 13th in the invitational section of the women's 800 meters, setting a new personal best by running 2:10.17. The sophomore continues to move in on the school record, further cementing her spot at second all-time only trailing Hillary Neal's school record of 2:09.15 set in 2011.
In the field events, Bob Elliot II won the second section of the men's triple jump, going 46-0.75 (14.04m) to win the event by nearly two feet. Ashley Cope earned a pair of seventh-place finishes in the field and on the track, clearing 12-3.5 (3.75m) in the first section of the pole vault and running 14.17 in Saturday's 100-meter hurdle finals. In the second section of the pole vault, Laura Bedsole tied for third with a height of 11-5.75 (3.50m). Brandon Bassett was Samford's final top-ten finisher of the day, placing ninth in the men's javelin (187-9, 57.23m).
