Trio Of Bulldogs Compete In Sam Adams Multi

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Three Bulldogs traveled to compete in the Sam Adams Multi hosted by Westmont College on April 4-5.
Senior Ashley Cope was the lone female athlete to represent Samford in the heptathlon and she secured an 11th place overall finish with 4,801 points.
Cope posted a time of 25.86 (809 points) in the 200-meter dash, at top-ten finish in the 800-meter run 2:27.62 (723 points), a time of 14.34 (931 points) in the 100-meter hurdles, a 1.48m (599 points) leap in the high jump, a 5.15m (601 points) score in the long jump, scored a 10.86m (586 points) in the shot put and a throw of 33.98m (552 points) in the javelin.
Steven Bastien and Brandon Bassett both competed in the decathlon events held out in sunny California. Bassett captured an overall sixth place finish with a score of 6,604 points and placed in the top-ten in six of the events.
