
Cope Sets New School Record In Heptathlon

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Ashley Cope etched her name in the Samford Track and Field record books one more time as she broke the school record in the heptathlon for the most points scored in a meet yesterday at the Samford Track and Soccer Complex.
The Juliet, Georgia native tallied a record 5,000 points in the heptathlon as she posted impressive marks in the 100m hurdle (14.26), high jump (1.48m), shot put (11.23m), 200m dash (25.68), long jump (5.38m), the javelin (34.61m) and the 800m run (2:22.11).
The Samford track and field team is set to compete one last time for the regular season in a meet at Georgia Tech University this weekend.
