Women's Golf Wraps Up Play At Lady Paladin Invite

FINAL RESULTS

GREENVILLE, S.C.—The Samford women's golf team wrapped up play in the Lady Paladin Invitational with the final round at the Furman University Golf Course Tuesday.

Freshman Anna Buchanan led the Bulldogs, finishing tied for 10^th out of 96 competitors. Buchanan shot a three-round total of five over par 221 (72-71-78).

"Wow, Anna played outstanding this week," Samford head coach Rachel Ingram said. "To come out as a freshman and shoot an even par and an under par round shows how much promise she has. After last week's tournament, she was very determined to learn from her mistakes and grow. Her determination paid off this week and I am thrilled for her."

Freshman Emily Uhland was next for Samford, carding a total score of 235 (75-77-83), finishing 67^th in the event. Junior Haley Harrington posted a 246 (82-82-82, T-88^th), while sophomore Kate Collom fired a 248 (84-84-80, 92^nd) and fellow sophomore Madeline Davis carded a total score of 250 (81-83-86, T-93^rd).

Alice Newson of Clemson won individual medalist honors with a score of 213 (67-73-73). Teammates Jess Meek and Michelle Butler of Missouri tied for second with identical scores of 215.

Missouri won the team title with a combined score of 871 (293-288-290). Furman finished second at 879 (303-282-294), and New Mexico came in third with a score of 883 (291-297-295). As a team, Samford placed 16^th, carding a total score of 946 (310-313-323).

Samford will return to action on Sept. 27, when the Bulldogs open play in the Chris Bannister Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State University.
