Nelson, Guillorel named Runners of the Week

Two Samford cross-country runners picked up Southern Conference weekly honors in recognition of their standout performances this past weekend, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Junior Karisa Nelson was named the SoCon's female Runner of the Week for her sixth-place finish in the college women's 5K race on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. Nelson notched a 47-second personal best, clocking a time of 16 minutes, 38.99 seconds.
Junior Arsène Guillorel was named the SoCon's male Runner of the Week for his 11th-place finish in the college men's 8K race at Chile Pepper. He registered an eight-second personal-best time 24:02.67
Saturday's competition represented season debuts for both runners.
The Bulldog cross-country teams will return to action on Friday, Oct. 14, at the University of Alabama Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa.
