Two Bulldogs Qualify For NCAA Championships

TAMPA, Fla.— Samford seniors Tray Oates and Arsène Guillorel both qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with impressive performances at the NCAA East Regional Thursday.
Oates qualified for the finals in the men's pole vault, while Guillorel qualified in the men's 10,000-meter run.
Oates finished first in his event with a height of 5.35 meters. Guillorel ran the 10,000 meters in 29:22.53, finishing fifth in the event. With their performances Thursday, both athletes advance to the NCAA Championships, to be held in Eugene, Oregon, June 6-9.
Hugh Duggan also competed in the pole vault, placing 26th at 5.00 meters. Selena Popp competed in the women's high jump, finishing 16th in her flight and tied for 32nd overall with a jump of 1.70 meters.
Emmanuel Tait ran in the men's 100 meters, placing seventh in his heat and 45th overall with a time of 10.62. Haley Ward competed in the women's 10,000-meter run, placing 31st with a time of 35:55.69.
Samford still has one more student-athlete to compete in the NCAA East Regional. Keyth Fightmaster will compete in the men's high jump Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT). Fans can follow Fightmaster in Saturday's event at the links below.
