BRONX, N.Y. – The Samford women's basketball team opened play in the Fordham Holiday Classic with a 68-37 loss at Fordham Sunday afternoon at Rose Hill Gymnasium.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 4-10 on the season. Fordham improves to 7-5 with the win.

• Natalie Armstrong led Samford in the loss with 14 points.
• Sarah Myers had 11 points and six rebounds.
• Kendell Heremaia led Fordham with 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• An early Armstrong jumper gave Samford a 2-0 lead with 9:46 to go in the first quarter.
• Samford, however, was unable to score the rest of the quarter as Fordham led, 15-2 at the end of the first period.
• Fordham stretched its lead to 18-2 early in the second quarter.
• Samford cut the lead to 12 points at 18-6, but Fordham finished the quarter strong and took a 29-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• After Samford cut the lead to 32-17 early in the third quarter, Fordham closed the quarter on an 18-5 run to push its lead to 50-22 heading into the final period.
• Fordham led by as many as 33 points in the fourth quarter and the Rams finished with the 68-37 win.
