BRONX, N.Y. – The Samford women's basketball team led from start to finish in earning a 65-45 win over Hofstra in the consolation game of the Fordham Holiday Classic Monday afternoon at Rose Hill Gymnasium.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 5-10 on the season. Hofstra falls to 3-8 with the loss.

• Sarah Myers led Samford with 14 points and six rebounds.
• Charity Brown had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists.
• Olivia Crozier and Natalie Armstrong had eight points each.
• Paige Serup and Samantha Fitzgerald added six points apiece.
• Sandra Karsten led Hofstra with 13 points in the loss.

 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Samford got off to a hot start, racing out to a 9-0 lead with 7:45 left in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Myers.
• With Samford leading, 14-9, the Bulldogs closed the period with a 9-3 run to take a 23-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• Samford pushed its lead to 16 points at 35-19 with 2:52 left in the second quarter after a jumper by Brown.
• The Bulldogs took a 37-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• With Samford leading, 44-28 late in the third quarter, Hofstra went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to just nine points at 44-35 with 1:12 left in the period after a layup by Karsten.
• A free throw and three-pointer by Brown pushed Samford's lead to 48-35 at the end of the third quarter.
• In the fourth quarter Samford stretched its lead to as many as 22 points at 65-43.
• Samford finished the game with an impressive 65-45 win.
