BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford University's track and field teams competed in the first indoor meet of the season at the Blazer Invitational inside the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday, January 10.

In the men's 60 meter dash, Emmanuel Tait advanced from the preliminaries to the finals, and finished in third place with a time of 8.00.

In her first collegiate indoor meet, freshman McKenzie Hogue had a strong showing in the women's one-mile run, outkicking the competition to a first place finish with a time of 5:07.14.Â
In the 1000 meter run, Shian Mallory crossed the line in second place, with a time of 2:57.31. Â

The Bulldogs paced the 3000 meter run, with Mary Grace Strozier and Veronica Lyle providing the one-two punch in the distance event. Strozier finished with a time of 9:58.24 and Lyle crossed the line in 10:01.80.

Senior Charlotte Krause had a strong day for the Bulldogs in the field, placing third in the women's high jump, clearing 1.69 meters.

The Bulldogs also claimed a bronze in the women's triple jump, as Morayo Bhadmos jumped 11.98 meters.Â
The Bulldogs' track and field team will be back in action January 16-18 at the Samford Invite, which will be held in the Birmingham CrossPlex.
