GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Samford women's basketball cut a 17-point deficit down to just five points late, but eventually fell at Furman, 77-69, Saturday afternoon at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
With the loss, Samford falls to 6-11 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference play. Furman improves to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in league contests.

- Sarah Myers led Samford with 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
- Natalie Armstrong scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Paige Serup added 11 points for the Bulldogs.
- For Furman, Tierra Hodges had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The game was tight early with the teams trading baskets early in the first quarter.
- With Samford leading, 9-8, Furman closed the first quarter with a 15-5 run to take a 23-14 lead at the end of the period.
- Furman pushed its lead to 13 points at 32-19 with 4:27 left in the second quarter after a layup by Taylor Petty.
- Samford then went on a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 32-29 with 1:52 left in the quarter after a three-pointer by Serup.
- Furman led, 36-31 heading into the locker room at halftime.
- Furman started the third quarter with an 11-3 run to push its lead to 47-34 with 7:39 left in the period.
- Furman led by as many as 17 points (57-40) in the third quarter, but Samford was able to cut the lead back to 60-47 at the end of the period.
- Samford cut the lead to just five points at 68-63 with 2:48 to play after a three-pointer by Serup.
- The Bulldogs, however, could get no closer, and Furman came away with the 77-69 win.
