Women's Basketball Takes Down Chattanooga, 60-46

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team used a strong overall performance to earn a 60-46 win over Chattanooga in Southern Conference action Thursday night at the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 8-11 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga falls to 4-15 overall and 3-2 in league contests.

  • Natalie Armstrong had another big game for Samford, scoring 22 points.
  • Sarah Myers scored 12 points and dished out five assists for the Bulldogs.

  • Chattanooga took an early 6-4 lead with 5:14 to go in the first quarter after a three-pointer by Bria Dial.
  • Samford went on an 11-2 run to take a 15-8 lead with 1:34 left in the quarter after a jumper by Olivia Crozier.
  • Samford held an 18-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
  • Chattanooga cut the lead to 18-14 early in the second quarter.
  • Samford stretched its lead out to nine points at 23-14 with 7:07 left in the second quarter following a layup by Armstrong.
  • After Chattanooga cut the lead to four points at 23-19, Samford closed the quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 31-21 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Samford controlled the third quarter, maintaining a double-digit lead for the entire period.
  • With Samford leading, 41-29, the Bulldogs closed the quarter with a 7-0 run to take a 48-29 lead into the final period.
  • Samford pushed its lead to 21 points at 50-29 with 9:21 left in the game after a layup by Raven Omar.
  • Chattanooga cut the lead to 14 points at 52-38, but the Mocs could get no closer as the Bulldogs closed out the 60-46 win.
