Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight, 68-34 Over ETSU

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team earned its third-straight victory with a commanding 68-34 win over ETSU Saturday afternoon in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
With the win, Samford moves into a first-place tie with UNCG in the Southern Conference standings with a 4-1 league mark. The Bulldogs have an overall record of 9-11. ETSU falls to 7-14 overall and 2-4 in league play with the loss.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • Both teams were cold in the first quarter.
  • With ETSU leading, 7-5 late in the period, a three-point play by Raven Omar gave Samford an 8-7 lead at the end of the period.
  • In the second quarter, Samford pushed its lead to 18-9 with 7:20 to play in the quarter after a three-pointer by Serup.
  • The Bulldogs led by 13 points at 29-16, but two late baskets by ETSU cut the lead to 29-20 heading into the locker room at halftime.
  • In the third quarter, with Samford leading, 32-22, the Bulldogs went on a 12-2 run to take a 20-point lead at 44-24 with 2:06 left in the period after a layup Battle.
  • Samford held a 50-27 lead at the end of the third quarter.
  • The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 31 points at 58-27 with 6:06 to go after a layup by Brown.
  • Samford finished with the 68-34 victory.
