SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford women's basketball team led from start to finish in earning an impressive 74-58 win at Wofford in the Southern Conference opener for both teams Thursday morning at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-10 overall and 1-0 in SoCon play. Wofford falls to 7-9 overall and 0-1 in league contests.
 
FROM THE BOX SCORE
	- As a team, Samford shot 60 percent (9-of-15) from three-point range.
- Natalie Armstrong scored 25 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring.
- Charity Brown had 14 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for Samford.
- Sarah Myers followed with 11 points for the Bulldogs.
- Wofford was led by Jamari McDavid with 17 points, and Chloe Wanink with 16 points.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
	- Samford got off to a hot start, racing out to a 7-0 lead with 6:40 to go in the first quarter following a pair of free throws by Myers.
- The Bulldogs stretched their lead to 16-4 with 3:20 left in the opening period after a three-pointer by Paige Serup.
- Samford held a 23-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Samford stretched its lead out to 19 points at 32-13 with 3:29 left in the second quarter after two more Myers free throws.
- Wofford scored the final six points of the period and Samford took a 32-19 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- After Wofford cut the Samford lead to 10 points early in the third quarter, Samford answered with a 9-0 run to take a 45-26 lead with 6:05 to go after a layup by Armstrong.
- Samford led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, and the Bulldogs held a 56-39 advantage at the end of the period.
- Wofford fought back to cut the lead to 13 points on four occasions in the fourth quarter, but Samford responded both times with runs of its own.
- Samford closed out the game with a 74-58 win.
