Katie Allen scored a career-high 21 points, all in the second half, but the Bulldog women's basketball team narrowly fell at Auburn, 66-64, Saturday evening at Auburn Arena.
With the loss, Samford falls to 0-2 on the season. Auburn improves to 2-0 with the win.

- Allen made 6-of-11 shots from the floor, including 6-of-10 from three-point range in ending with her career-high total. She also made 3-of-4 attempts from the free-throw line.
- Allen also shared the team lead in rebounding with six.
- Shauntai Battle scored 19 points for the Bulldogs. Battle made 8-of-12 shots from the floor.
- Natalie Armstrong had 10 points and six rebounds for Samford.
- Raven Omar had nine points and a career-high eight assists.
- For Auburn, Unique Thompson led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Auburn jumped out to an 8-3 lead with 6:54 to go in the first quarter after a jumper by Romi Levy.
- Samford fought back to take a 12-11 lead with 4:16 left in the first period after a three-pointer by Battle.
- Auburn closed the period with a 10-4 run to take a 21-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Samford came back to cut the lead to 26-24 with 6:06 left in the second quarter after a free throw by Battle.
- Auburn closed the half with a 12-2 run to take a 38-26 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- Auburn built its lead to 16 points at 44-28 with 7:42 left in the third quarter after a pair of free throws by Thompson.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to 11 points at 46-35 with 4:29 left in the third quarter after a layup by Omar.
- After Auburn pushed its lead back out to 14 at 49-35, Samford went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 49-42 after a layup by Omar with 1:14 to go in the third quarter.
- Auburn held a 50-42 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
- Samford closed to within four points at 54-50 with 7:36 to go after a layup by Battle.

- After an Auburn free throw, Samford's Woolard attempted a three-pointer to win at the buzzer, but the shot would not go in and Auburn came away with the 66-64 win.
