BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team moved into a first-place tie in the Southern Conference standings with a 69-57 win over UNC Greensboro Thursday night in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford's SoCon record improves to 9-4, tying the Bulldogs with UNCG and Chattanooga for first place in the league standings with one regular-season game left. Samford has an overall record of 14-14, while UNCG falls to 20-8. If the Bulldogs can earn a win over the Western Carolina Catamounts Saturday, Samford would secure at least a share of the program's first regular-season Southern Conference title.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- UNCG took an 8-4 lead with 5:37 left in the first quarter.
- With Samford trailing, 12-10, the Bulldogs closed the first quarter with a 7-2 run to take a 17-14 lead at the end of the period.
- In the second quarter, Samford built a 23-19 lead with 4:58 left in the period after a three-pointer by Paige Serup.
- UNCG fought back to take a 26-24 lead with 2:04 to go in the period.
