
Track And Field Wraps Up Three-Day Competition At Crimson Tide Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Samford track and field rose to the occasion at their first three-day meet of the 2021 outdoor season, recording 15 personal records against high quality competition.
The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon started Thursday and continued into Friday. The Bulldogs had strong showings in both events with Ty Kimberlin, the reigning SoCon Indoor Men's Pentathlon champion, score 6675 points placing fourth in the event. Kimberlin's mark moves him into fourth position all-time in men's decathlon points. Freshman, Mia Milasinovic continues to make an impact in her rookie campaign moving into sixth position all-time scoring 4533 points in the women's heptathlon.
Samford had a strong performance in the women's 1500-meter run with one season best and two personal best performances. Mary Grace Strozier finished with a season best time of 4:29.66, Allison Nelson moved into seventh all-time with a personal best time of 4:30.21, while freshman Harper McGowan finished with a personal record time of 4:35.83.
The Bulldogs continue to demolish records in the young 2021 season as Maggie Johnston set a new program record in the women's discus throw with a mark of 51.99 meters breaking her own record of 51.40 meters.
Samford moved up the all-time top ten lists in the men's and women's 4x100 meter relays with the women's squad comprised of Hannah Lueders, Vada Samuels, Amanda Dumar, and Kaitlyn Cole finished in a time of 47.09 (third all-time in program history). In the men's 4x100 meter relay Titus Moore, Emmanuel Tait, Corey McDaniels, and Evan Brooks recorded a mark of 41.55 (fourth all-time in program history).
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Michael McMahan finished fourth overall recording a personal best time of 13.81 (+4.1 m/s). Amanda Dumar also posted a personal best time of 1:02.40 in the women's 400-meter hurdles, while Michael McMahan continued his outstanding meet with a second-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time 52.03.
Tally Wilson brought home the bronze for the Bulldogs with a third-place finish in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.97 meters. In the women's high jump freshman Makenzie Hooton had a personal best with a mark of 1.70 meters. Aiya Finch also had a personal best for the Bulldogs in the the women's long jump (5.65 meters), while Edwin Rainey continued his freshman campaign with a personal best in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.95 meters.
Freshman Erin Long set a new freshman record in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 40.57 meters. Long's throw was also a collegiate best and moved her into third-place all-time in program history for the event.
Kaitlyn Cole also had a personal best in the women's 200-meter dash with a mark of 24.55.
Benjamin Garner brought home the bronze for Samford with a personal best time in the men's 3000m steeplechase (9:12.26) topping his previous personal best time by nearly five minutes. The mark moved Garner to fifth all-time in program history. Junior, Luke Dobbins also earned a personal best time in the event crossing the line in 10:07.54.
The Bulldogs will continue their in-state tour of the Southeastern Conference at the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn University on April 16 and 17.
