Samford’s Dunstan Finishes In Top 10, Bulldogs Place Fifth At SoCon Championships

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Samford freshman Bailey Dunstan placed in the top 10 individually, and the Samford women's golf team placed fifth at the Southern Conference Championship, played Monday and Tuesday at Oak Point Golf Course (Par 72, 6,006 yds).
Samford finished with a three-round score of 899 (296-291-312), placing fifth in the event. ETSU won the tournament with a score of 876 (296-288-292), while Furman came in second at 877 (301-287-289).
Individually for Samford, Dunstan tied for ninth at six-over par 222 (73-71-78). The six-over-par score was the best for a Samford player at the SoCon Championship since Bailey Gray finished one-over-par in 2015.
Fellow freshman Kelley Topiwala tied for 13th at 225 (73-74-78), while junior Mary Kate Horton tied for 22nd with a score of 229 (81-72-76). Sophomore Sophie Membrino and freshman Allison Dusek both finished in a tie for 29th with identical scores of 232. Membrino shot a 75, 74 and 83 in the three rounds, while Dusek tallied scores of 75, 77 and 80.
