EUGENE, Ore. – Samford's Justin Stuckey wrapped up his season at the Olympic Trials Friday evening at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Stuckey competed in the high jump, but did not clear the first height of 2.14 meters (7' 0 ¾"). A total of 24 athletes competed in the event, with the top 12 advancing to Sunday's finals, with the top three in the finals making the United States Olympic team.
The Olympic Trials ends an impressive season for Stuckey, who earned first team All-American honors in the indoor season, and picked up a second-team All-American nod in the outfield season.
Stuckey, a native of Helena, Ala., won the Southern Conference championship in the high jump in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, helping the team to the SoCon title in both seasons.
Stuckey qualified for the trials with his jump at the War Eagle Invitational earlier this season, when he had a leap of 2.21 meters (7' 3"), his personal best.
