Bulldogs Blitz Birmingham-Southern In Non-Conference Finale

Birmingham, Ala. – In the final tune-up before Southern Conference play begins, the Samford Women's basketball team sprinted past the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern for a 112-75 victory on Friday night.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 6-9 on the season and will start SoCon play against Western Carolina on Jan. 5 at the Pete Hanna Center. Birmingham-Southern falls to 6-6 on the year. 
 
The 112 points are the most scored by the Bulldogs in a game since scoring 135 against Birmingham-Southern in 2021.
 
Led by Andrea Bailey, Samford had five Bulldogs score in double figures including three off the bench. 
 
Bailey Paced the Bulldog attack with a team-high 20 points, seven assists and three steals on the night. 
 
Sussy Ngulefac poured in 17 more points and grabbed seven rebounds.
 
The freshman duo of Carly Heidger and Emily Bowman each recorded career-highs in points with Heidger scoring 16 and Bowman adding an additional 12. Bowman had a season-high seven boards.
 
Coming off the bench, Macey Lee scored all 11 of her points in the second half.
 
Kathleen Wheeler led all Bulldogs with eight rebounds in the contest.
 
In total, 13 members of the Samford roster saw action in the 37-point victory with 12 scoring at least a point in the crosstown matchup.
 
Samford ran out to a 24-17 lead after the opening quarter before scoring a season-high 56 points in the first half.
 
The largest Bulldog run of the game came in the heart of the third quarter when the Bulldogs strung together a 10-0 run to go by 26. 
 
The 100th point of the night came with 4:02 remaining in the fourth quarter when Lee drove to the basket and got a rebound to fall on the tail end of a 7-0 Samford run. 
 
In the second half, the Bulldogs matched their first half output and lit up the scoreboard with 56 more points to complete the 112-75 dismantling.
