LEXINGTON, Va. – The Samford men's and women's track and field teams swept the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at the VMI Corps Training Facility, for a third year in a row.
The championship is the seventh-straight indoor title for the women's team and the third-consecutive for the men's squad.
The Samford men's team scored 206.5 points, ahead of second-place Western Carolina with 117 points. On the women's side, Samford posted 161.5 points, with ETSU placing second at 146.5 points.
Between the men's and women's teams, Samford won eight conference event titles. On the men's side,
Seth Wolfe won the shot put with a distance of 15.62 meters.
Justin Stuckey won the high jump with a leap of 2.10 meters. Wolfe also won the weight throw at 19.71 meters.
Michael McMahan won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.12.
Ty Kimberlin won the heptathlon, setting a meet record with 5,391 points.
Jed Sisco won the pole vault with a vault of 5.20 meters.
For the women's team,
Brittany Bishop won the pole vault, setting a meet and school record at 4.06 meters.
Hannah Daffin won the weight throw at 18.61 meters.
Next up for Samford are the NCAA Championships, scheduled for March 11-12 at the Birmingham Crossplex.
