PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Samford women's golf team opened the spring season by placing ninth at the Lady Bison Classic, hosted by Lipscomb, Monday and Tuesday at Bay Point Golf Club's Nicklaus Course (Par 72, 5,971 yards).
"I'm disappointed in the way we played, but it is early in the season and we will get better," Samford head coach
Joe Davidson said. "We haven't been able to practice much due to the weather, and I know this team will improve as the season progresses."
The Bulldogs posted a three-round score of 958 (319-323-316) to finish ninth in the 15-team field. USC Upstate won the event with a final score of 916 (312-307-297).
Individually for Samford,
Sophie Membrino tied for 16
th with a score of 233 (74-80-79), while
Mary Kate Horton tied for 27
th at 236 (78-79-79).
Christian Williams placed 45
th with a three-round score of 244 (84-82-78).
Bailey Dunstan tied for 48
th with a final score of 247 (84-83-80).
Allison Howard tied for 52
nd at 248 (83-82-83).
Samford will compete in the Alabama State Invitational, Feb. 20-21 in Montgomery, Ala.
