BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford women's basketball team had all 12 players see action as the Bulldogs earned a 76-50 win over LaGrange College Wednesday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.

"It's always fun when everybody gets an opportunity to play," Samford head coach
Carley Kuhns said. "I'm really proud of different people for stepping up and being ready. Alonya (Waldon) stepped up and gave us incredible minutes. She gives us energy and as a freshman, she is just going to continue to grow and continue to get better."

With the win, Samford improved to 7-3, including a 6-0 mark at home. This is the first time Samford has won its first six home games since the 2014-15 season when the team won its first eight home games. The game was an exhibition for LaGrange and did not count towards its season record.

Freshman
Alonya Waldon led Samford with a career-high 12 points, making 4-of-5 shots from the floor, including 2-of-2 from three-point range.
Masyn Marchbanks had 10 points and five assists.
Carly Heidger added 10 points and five rebounds for the Bulldogs.

For LaGrange, Skylar Edwards led the way with 12 points. Laila Battle added 11 points for the Panthers.

The game was tight throughout the first quarter. With Samford leading, 16-14, the Bulldogs closed the period with a 9-3 run to take a 25-17 lead at the end of the period.

In the second quarter, with Samford leading, 26-20, the Bulldogs went on a 13-2 run to take a 39-22 lead with 2:54 left in the period after a pair of free throws by Marchbanks. LaGrange closed the lead to just 13 points at 40-27 heading into the locker room at halftime.

Samford opened up a 20-point lead at 55-35 with 5:03 to go in the third quarter following a layup by
Aubrey Blankenship. Samford held a 60-36 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 30 points at 68-38 with 7:17 to go after a three-pointer by
Rylie Stephens. LaGrange cut the lead to 23 points at 70-47, but Samford closed out the game with a 76-50 win.

Samford will next take on the University of Arkansas on Saturday, Dec. 16. The game is set for a 12:30 p.m. start from Little Rock, Ark.
