Bulldogs Drop Thursday Contest At Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Samford women's basketball fell 86-60 at the Wofford Terriers on Thursday evening. 
 
Samford will enter the regular season finale on Saturday with a 13-15 overall record with a 7-6 mark in Southern Conference play. Wofford improves to 19-8 and 9-4 on the year. 
 
Andrea Bailey turned in her 11th 20-point game of the season scoring a team-best 21 points with four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. 
 
Joining Bailey in double figures, Sussy Ngulefac poured in 10 points and grabbed a Samford-high seven rebounds. 
 
In total, eight different Bulldogs scored on the evening including reserves Mattie Hatcher, Emily Bowman and Kiersten Nelson. 
 
Samford came out of the gates flying and jumped out to an early 12-5 lead over the opening five minutes behind the sharpshooting of Bailey and Kathleen Wheeler. The surge put the Bulldogs up 16-13 after the opening quarter of play. 
 
A more back-and-forth game broke out in the second frame as the conference foes played to a 36-36 tie at the break. 
 
The final Samford lead of the evening came with 6:43 remaining in the third quarter when Masyn Marchbanks hit her lone three on the night to make it 47-43 Bulldogs before the Terriers ended the quarter on a 19-7 run.
 
Wofford outscored Samford 24-6 in the fourth giving the Terriers an 86-60 final. 
 
Samford heads to Furman on Saturday for the regular season finale before setting its sights on the SoCon tournament. The Bulldogs and Paladins are slated for a 1 p.m. CT tip time on Saturday.
