SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford was well represented when the Southern Conference released its postseason awards for indoor track and field Wednesday afternoon.
Samford head coach
Rod Tiffin was named both the men's and women's Coach of the Year.
Cagan Campbell was named the Male Most Outstanding Track Performer, while
Hannah Daffin earned Female Most Outstanding Field Performer accolades.
Tiffin led the women's team to an eighth-straight SoCon Indoor Track and Field championship, while the men's team won a fourth-straight title. This marks the fourth-consecutive season Samford has swept the SoCon Indoor Track and Field championships.
In last week's conference championships, Campbell won a pair of individual titles. He won the men's 200-meter run with a time of 21.58 seconds, and he also tied with teammate
William Malcolm for the championship in the men's 60-meter run, with identical times of 6.84 seconds.
Daffin also earned two individual titles in the meet. She won the women's shot put with a distance of 14.21 meters, while also winning the women's weight throw at 18.37 meters.
Samford will next compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 10-11 at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
