STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Samford men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Bulldog Relays, hosted by Mississippi State, Thursday through Saturday at the Mike Sanders Track and Field Complex on the MSU campus.
 
Samford student-athletes posted top three finishes in 15 events during the three-day meet. Four of those were first-place finishes, and an additional Bulldog set a school record in the meet.
 
On the women's side, Gabbie Hoots won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:11.53. Erin Long took home first place in the javelin throw at 45.15 meters, while Dorsey Parker tied for first in the high jump, with a leap of 1.65 meters.
 
The men's team's Jose Penalver won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.06. Additionally, Cagan Campbell set a school record in the 400-meter dash, running the race in 47.57 seconds, good for seventh place in the event.
 
Samford will next compete in the Kennesaw State Invitational, April 7-8, in Kennesaw, Ga.
