Samford Trio Earns SoCon Weekly Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Cagan Campbell, Tripp Marcus and Hannah Daffin were all honored by the Southern Conference when the league released its weekly track and field awards Wednesday afternoon.
Campbell was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, Marcus was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Daffin earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
At the Bulldog Relays, hosted by Mississippi State, Campbell set a school record in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.57 seconds. He also was a part of the school-record setting men's 4x100 relay team that ran the race in 40.55 seconds.
Marcus competed in the javelin throw at the Bulldog Relays. He finished fourth in the event with a career-best distance of 65.51 meters.
Daffin finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 52.44 meters. She also came in fifth in the shot put at 13.82 meters, and she had a personal best of 41.50 meters in the discus throw, good for a ninth-place finish.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Kennesaw State Invitational, April 7-8 in Kennesaw, Georgia.
