Long Qualifies For NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Samford's Erin Long qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the women's javelin throw on the second day of the NCAA East Regional Thursday at the Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium.
 
Long had a toss of a school-record 51.10 meters to finish seventh. The top 12 advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
 
McKenzie Hogue competed in the preliminaries of the women's 1,500-meter run. She qualified for Saturday's second round with a time of 4:21.87 to place 17th. Hogue will compete in the second round of the event Saturday at 4:15 p.m. (CT) for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Brittany Bishop also competed in the women's pole vault, but was unable to qualify.
 
The meet will continue Friday when Edwin Rainey competes in the men's triple jump at 5 p.m. (CT). Titus Moore will run in the second round of the men's 110-meter hurdles at 5:15 p.m. (CT).
