Marsh Tabbed As SoCon Defensive Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior defensive back Kourtlan Marsh was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league announced its weekly football awards on Monday. 
 
This is Marsh's first SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and the first of his Bulldog career. 
 
In the defeat at Auburn, Marsh tied his career-high with 10 tackles, recovered a muffed punt that led to a Samford touchdown and pulled down an acrobatic interception in the end zone to halt an Auburn scoring opportunity. 
 
In the early going of the 2023 season, Marsh has tallied 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, an interception and a pass breakup.
 
No. 20 Samford returns to the friendly confines of Seibert Stadium on Sept. 23 as the Bulldogs host Chattanooga for Family Weekend. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. and tickets can be found here.
