Vanderpool Named SoCon Indoor Men’s Field Athlete Of The Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Brenden Vanderpool was named the Southern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week when the league released its weekly track and field honors on Wednesday afternoon.

Selections were made by panels of the league's track and field coaches and included all competitions from Feb. 7 to Feb. 13.

Competing at the Bulldog Open, Vanderpool won the Men's Pole Vault after setting a new personal record by a foot. The Smyrna, Georgia, product's top mark of 5.45m ranks 18th in the NCAA and placed the freshman in the conference lead.

Vanderpool and the Bulldogs turn their sights on the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Feb. 16-17 before the Southern Conference Championship on Feb. 24-25 in Lexington, Virginia.
