PRATTVILLE, Ala. – The Samford women's golf team sits in first place after the first round of the ASU Spring Classic, played Monday.
"We played well today at times," Samford head coach
Joe Davidson said. "We played in tough conditions again today that we should be used to by now. I thought we played the par-3s really well today. We need to buckle down tomorrow and focus and finish the job."
Samford shot a team score of 302 to lead the 10-team field. Troy sits in second place at 308, while Illinois-Chicago is in third place at 317.
Individually for Samford,
Gabi Nicastro leads the 54-player field with a one-under-par 70 in the first round.
Christian Williams is in third place with a score of 75.
Bailey Dunstan is tied for fourth at 77, while
Ella Stoll is tied for 13
th at 80 and
Kelley Topiwala is tied for 19
th at 81.
The tournament will conclude with one final round on Monday. The round is set to start at 9 a.m. and fans can follow the results at the following link:
