MONROE, La. – The Samford women's golf team sits in third place after the first two rounds at the ULM Invitational, held Monday at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
"I'm proud of the way we played today," Samford head coach
Joe Davidson said. "We got off to a good start, but playing 36 holes makes for a long day. The wind picked up this afternoon, which made things interesting. This is a great golf course and a good prep for the SoCon Championship in a few weeks. I hope we can get some rest tonight, we have to get off to a good start tomorrow."
Samford finished with a team score of 587 (290-297) to place third in the 12-team field. Sam Houston State currently leads the field with a score of 578 (287-291) and Arkansas State is in second at 584 (291-293).
Individually for Samford,
Gabi Nicastro is currently in seventh place out of 78 golfers with a two-round total of 142 (69-73).
Bailey Dunstan is tied for 16
th with a score of 146 (76-70), while
Christian Williams is tied for 27
th at 148 (71-77).
Kelley Topiwala is tied for 39
th with a score of 151 (74-77), while
Grace Engel is tied for 47
th with a score of 153 (76-77).
