BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – To round out her first staff, Samford softball head coach Megan Curry announced on Thursday the hiring of Logan Calhoun as an assistant coach.
"I am so excited for Logan to be here and join our Samford family! She will do great things not only with our defense but also off the field mentoring the team," Curry said. "We have put people in place to challenge but also support this team in every way possible. Logan will fill this role flawlessly. Welcome to the family!"
Calhoun arrives in Birmingham after spending a season at Arkansas-Monticello, where she tutored the Blossom hitters and infielders.
"I am beyond excited for the opportunity to become a part of the Samford Softball family," Calhoun said. "I am grateful that I get to mentor and lead these young women on and off the field. I can't wait to get started and see what the future holds!"
Prior to her stint in the Natural State, Calhoun spent the 2023 season at Northwest Florida State College. During her time with the Raiders, Calhoun helped NWF to a Panhandle Conference championship and an appearance in the 2023 NJCAA DI Softball World Series.
Before getting into coaching, Calhoun played collegiately at Troy. In her six-year career with the Trojans, she played in 253 games while batting .263 with 174 hits, 34 doubles, three home runs and 63 RBIs while walking 35 times and swiping 44 bases.
Calhoun graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in health promotion and a Master of Business in sports management.
The Dublin, Georgia native prepped at West Laurens High School and made a trio of All-Region teams while being named MVP twice.
