CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's golf team fell to High Point, 3-2, in the championship match of the Oyster Shuck Match Play, hosted by The Citadel Tuesday at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course.
Samford's two wins in the match came from
Anika Richards and
Gabi Nicastro, who both went 3-0 in the two-day tournament. Richards defeated Ella Perna, 2+0, while Nicastro defeated Amber Matlega, 3+1.
For the tournament, Samford finished second with a 2-1 record. High Point won the tournament with a 3-0 record. High Point and Samford were followed by Radford, Gardner-Webb, Longwood, North Dakota, Presbyterian and The Citadel.
Samford will next compete in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, hosted by Samford in Huntsville, Ala., Mar. 3-4.
