SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Samford track and field program had an individual receive accolades from the Southern Conference office today as they announced their men's and women's track and field athletes of the week. Sophomore
Brenden Vanderpool took home the men's field athlete of the week after his performance in the pole vault at the UAB Invite.
A Georgia native, Vanderpool set a top-10 mark in the nation this season in the men's pole vault on Feb. 7 as he cleared a height of 5.53 meters to win the event. His height was also the second-best mark cleared in Samford indoor program history. He previously had a career-best of 5.45 meters that he set last season.
The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend as they play host at the Samford Bulldog Invite. The events are scheduled to take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Feb. 14 & 15.Â
