BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's track and field teams competed for the third time during its indoor track season today at the UAB Invite. After competing last Sunday, a handful of the Bulldog regulars took the meet off, but that didn't stop Samford from getting top-three finishes in multiple events throughout the day.

The biggest highlight of the day came in the men's pole vault as the Bulldogs swept the top four places in the event. The top spot went to Brenden Vanderpool who cleared 5.53 meters which is the 10th best mark in the country this season and is the second best in indoor school history. Carter Ellis and Jed Sisco each cleared 5 meters to take second and third respectively while Walker Smith claimed fourth place overall. On the women's side of the pole vault, Antonina Tereshchenko came in second place after clearing 3.76 meters.

The Bulldogs high jump group continues to register top-three finishes as Jaggerd Moore came in second place with a height of 2.06 meters while on the women's side, Dorsey Parker tied for second after clearing the bar at 1.63 meters. In the men's triple jump, Ian Jones faced a strong field but still came away with a fourth-place finish with a best jump of 14.83 meters.

Bryce Davis and Eli Penix each came in the top 10 of the men's shot put while on the track, the Bulldogs rested the majority of their runners but William Jordan managed a third-place finish in the men's mile. Of the women's runners, Maddie Edwards finished fourth in the women's 400 and Ellison Chadwick finished top-10 in the women's 200 meter.

The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend as they play host at the Samford Bulldog Invite. The events are scheduled to take place at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Feb. 14 & 15.
