MOBILE, Ala. - The Samford men's and women's track and field team was back in action this weekend as they took a small group south to compete in the Jaguar Outdoor Invitational hosted by South Alabama. The Bulldogs took home a handful of individual wins and set a new school record at the event.
The highlight of the weekend came in the men's high jump as
Arthur Chitty took home a win while setting a new school record in the event by clearing 2.22 meters. Samford took home wins in the men's and women's javelin throw as
Kyle Kaufelds and
Erin Long earned wins. Kaufelds had a best throw of 61.53 meters while Long's best effort was 49.43 meters.Â
Damian Hines won the men's long jump 6.92m best while
Kelsey Martin came in second place in the women's 400m sprint. The Dogs also swept the men's and women's 400-meter hurdles as
Ayden Drake and
Landon Wright outran the field.Â
The full Bulldog team will be back in action next weekend as they head to Mississippi State to compete on May 2 and 3.
